Is that…Sunshine?

What a nice change to wake up to yesterday. Our winter has been lived under cloudy skies and tons of snow, more of which is promised us this week. When yesterday dawned in blue skies, Jeff and I were out the door, hiking boots on-foot, and MD dancing along beside. We could manage just a short walk as the day held other obligations, but starting with a walk sets up an entire day to be better…but, as you already know that.

We chose our local, short, but steep Drinking Horse trail. It’s a good walk along the slower route, and a thoroughly good walk along the steeper route. We usually head on up the steeper route and then opt for a longer walk coming down along the slower route.

The path was pretty quiet yesterday, with us spotting one red squirrel, two Mountain chickadees and the ever-present magpies. Not many fellow hikers, either. Must have been a good skiing day.

When our Big Sky state opens up into sunshine those blue skies are hard to beat…Behind us

Jeff and MD, starting on our way down…

Our new, super cleats were the answer for all the ice we encountered. Love ’em.

Hope you have sunshine and blue skies wherever you walk 🙂

About walksandrambles

My love of walking began in 2005, when, travelling with my Girl Scout troop to Switzerland, I joined a group of Norwegians for a day, to walk up Elsignenalp. I wasn't at all sure I could make it, but the guide was kind and through her encouragement, started out. It was an all-day affair for me and I was always the last one, but this didn't matter a bit...I'd found my new love! No photos exist for this...the camera went missing on a train...but I remember toasting myself with a cup of tea from my thermos at the was a day of tough work and pure pleasure. If you walk, you know what I mean!
